Then I took wire 6 and 7 (in the diagram) off that bar and soldered both wires, 6&7, to one end of the diode and soldered the other end of the diode to the lead that the bar is connected to.A lot of the 027 train sets that I've picked up in the wild came with 1033 transformers, or the follow-on model, 1044. IMHO, a 1033 would be fine for any postwar Lionel 027 locomotive with an average number of cars. It would probably be OK for some Lionel "O" or Super "O" locomotives.
