The entire point of buying a tailgate pad is so I don't have to use additional things (bungy cords, tie downs, etc) to secure my bike. Every other pad on the market works just fine - how could Rivian fail their design in the 1 single place the bike actually contacts the tailgate pad?

Apr 1, 2021 · I found the ultimate solution for me. It's made by Ride88 and they just made a Rivian specific kit. This thing is awesome. I didn't want a tailgate pad because I didn't want to risk scratching or denting my tailgate and didn't want to mess around with straps. The system I just installed is all bolt in and fits under the tonneau. Mobile service was able to fix it in about 1.5hrs. The rubber pads above the lower tailgate had worn the exterior layer. The underlying layer was gummy and the door was sticking on the bumper. Technician had to take apart the inside of the lower tailgate to get the top to release.
