Processors crushed about 165.5 million bushels of soybeans last month, according to data from the National Oilseed Processors Association. That's up 2.5% from August and 4.6% year-over-year. Soymeal futures were near their lows for the close with $2.10 to $6/ton losses. Soybean Oil prices were also weaker with 15 to 66 point losses.Current prices for 2023 new-crop delivery are around $5.60/bu for corn, $14/bu for soybeans (2/22/23). This is an increase of around $.30/bu for corn and $.75/bu for soybeans compared to what these prices were expected one year ago (see Figure 1). Since rallying to a high of $14.09 ½ on Aug. 28, November 2023 futures had plummeted $1.59 (11%). November 2024 soybean futures, meanwhile, fell $0.85 over the same time period (6%). Friday’s double digit losses flipped the soybean market to net red for the week’s move as beans closed down by 11 to 17 ¾ cents and left Jan at a net 5 ¾ cent loss for the week. Jan beans finished the month of November with a net 37 ½ cent gain. Soymeal futures led the way lower with 2.32% to 3.8% losses of as much as $16.90/ton on Friday.

On February 10th, corn, soybeans and wheat futures were higher than the last Market Trends report. March 2023 corn futures were at $6.80 a bushel. The December 2023 corn futures contracts sits at $5.96. The May 2023 soybean futures were at $15.33 a bushel. The November 2023 soybean futures stood at $13.78.
