Add a +2 to any Ability Score when starting a Hunter with this race, and other abilities like Keen Senses and better resistance to enchantment school spells make a Half-Elf one of the best choices.
The empty offhand required by spell combat allows you to also make use of demon claws in tandem with your weapon rather nicely.
