Recently, I added Talon grips on it and turned out to be really good. One thing you should probably be more careful is that the Granulate option is extremely aggressive.Still wider than Glock, M&P or XD, but narrower than the old USP. Overall height is actually short but bore-axis is high. I usually carry my 1911 Commander but I've carried my HK45C for weeks at times. The difference is noticable but it is not that big an issue. It was actually more difficult to find a holster for it.For your first pistol, the 9mm would probably be a better option. The P30 is a bit bulky (IMO) for optimal CCW but has the larger capacity for HD, the HK45c is perfect for both but has the 8 round capacity (unless you get the very bulky elephant foot) and .45 isn't ideal for your first handgun. It is a simple thing to use the safety lever instead of the LEM axle while installing the LEM kit and retain the safety. A few folks have opted to do that.

The HK45C was one of my first off roster purchases and was my bedside gun until the VP9! Yes true but definitely expensive…to the point that I’d rather just get the USP. My USPc9 may be old fashioned by today’s standards, but it is beautifully engineered, ergonomic, and incredibly reliable.

In all honesty, for most people, the full size is just easy to shoot. The HK45c is nothing to shake a stick at either, but the full size just makes it easier to work with.
