Just a thought, but the only way to access Firelink in ds3 is through a bonfire. Bonfires are pretty uncanny with the way they let you warp through them. and I'm thinking now, what if they let you warp through time aswell? Im not a lore master of dark souls but the light corresponds to time. So if the is no light, time is stagnant. So the dark firelink is “dark” so time is still. If you killed the maiden in the normal firelink she will rise again (respawn) because time is flowing. Time isnt moving in the dark firelink so she doesnt respawn.
