The higher riser that comes with the SIG Romeo 5 places the optic center 1.41" above the top of the Picatinny rail for an exact co-witness with back up sights. Some people prefer a little higher riser that puts the optic center around 1.64-1.65" above the rail for a lower 1/3 co-witness, if they have a fixed front sight tower.

If you're finding the XDR for $30 more than the regular Romeo 5 you're either getting a really good deal on the XDR or a really bad deal on the regular one because it's normally about $100 more.
