Patch 5 Lag *Update*. I previously made a post talking about the lag issues introduced to a few people in patch 5, I'm making this post to let people know how I found a temporary workaround. Bear in mind, this only worked for lag issues in act 1 and 2, act 3 is still chugging heavily and I suspect will need an actual official fix from Larian.
