I have a base built on the planet for people doing the expedition which is named "Storm Crystal planet with Minotaur bay" so you can use the minotaur for farming the crystals without needing to drop your own bay. They should appear every storm. The crystals are upright, oblong shaped rocks that glow pretty brightly with electricity/energy during a storm. When the storm isn't active, they'll just look like upright rocks with cracks in the side. When it is storming they glow and can be harvested but when it isn't storming you can tell that they exist on that planet as they are encased in rocks and look like this when it is not storming.
