Keep in mind, when you use the egg, you need to have every gifted type of non event in your hive, not just discovered. The star egg rolls a gifted bee that's not already in your hive.
The sunflower field gives you sun flower seeds and sometimes you might get oils. You can also plant sprouts in there. Other stuff that is not as effective is kill bugs. I know quite a lot in the 4K region and their bees macro and boost and barely lose their energy so they collect quite a bit consistently.
