The Core uses a housing designed only for it. So, the v5 heater is seated inside a mount that can only screw into the Core base. The core 2.0 is designed with the v5 heater in mind, so operation is pretty streamlined. You have low, medium, and high heat settings. You double-click and go. In both devices you can remove the v5 heater from its mount.

The new version will have an improved base for faster heat up with a new heater that can use Matt's upcoming V5 cup. It's a ceramic cup that heats your concentrate from the bottom and the sides! I love my current Core so I can't wait to try the upgrade.

You should be able to use the built in temperature mode. I was able to use the built in temperature mode on my (5 year old) pico. I switched to artic fox because it will run for 60 seconds at a time (stock firmware made me pulse the button instead) and because the stock firmware liked to tell me I had disconnected the atomizer while putting me back into wattage mode.
