Marlin 795 discontinued.
Over ten years ago I bought a 795 for about $100. I was stunned by how accurate it was. I bought a couple other Marlin 60s at that time but they couldn't compete with this 795 for accuracy. ... I let my nephew "borrow" my model 60 after I bought my 795 so now I am looking for another model 60 with the long barrel.

Ten round mag, semi-auto, 22LR, blued metal but synthetic stock (not as pretty as the 795). Shot well with a variety of ammo and was more accurate than my 10/22s out of the box. Just a comparison to help with the discussion. The 795 is a far better looking piece of equipment, but the extra ±$50 is a consideration. I would think Ruger would want a piece of that action. I have a bunch of 10/22s but also have 2 795s. One was built just before and one just after Marlin was sold and manufacturing moved. In the first 100 rds there were 4 failures that were not misfires. I am still getting 1 or 2 stovepipes in every 200 rds, but I still consider the gun to be new, and I have yet to clean it after 500 rds. Overall I consider the 795 to be a very good gun. It is 64% of the price of a new plain-jane 10-22 and is a far better gun.

I would like to know how to fix it so the mag drops free when you hit the mag release. Mar 27, 2012 · The 60 and 795 use the same semi-auto action. The 60 has a longer barrel, a tube feed magazine, is more accurate beyond about 50 yds, and is a bit heavier. I think 60s can still be had with wooden stocks. The 795 has a detachable 10 round magazine and a plastic stock. They handle a little better because they are shorter and lighter.
