VDC and slip lights sound unrelated and usually mean you've got an ABS code, so get that pulled and go from there. Before you do any of that though, get yourself under your truck and figure out where the transmission fluid is "pouring" out from. Should be pretty obvious if it's not a slow leak.

When engine speed signal isn’t sent over CAN, the ABS control module will set a DTC and the VDC light will illuminate. I don’t believe the ABS light will. The most common (by far) cause of a missing engine speed signal is a failed camshaft position sensor. Once I got to work I turned the car off and turned it back on again and the lights were off. However, once I started driving again the lights would come back on 20 feet down the road.
Take Xterra to a semi straight road. Straighten steering wheel and turn off the car. Start the car back up go straight. Should take about 10 feet and lights will turn off and vdc is reset.

Start the engine and set the steering wheel in the straight forward position. 2. Drive the vehicle at speeds above 10 MPH for at least 10 minutes. 3. The VDC OFF indicator should go off. Put the transmission in N and cycle the 4wd to 4 high or 4 lo. Sometimes you have to move a little put it back to Nuetral and cycle till the light goes off. When the VDC light is on you might've turned on the 4wd without doing it properly and it gets stuck in low range.
