We went through regular security on Sundays in May/June, and while the line was long it was calm and you made steady progress; it took about 30-45 mins to be through and into the food court. Note that if you fly AAS over from Anguilla to SXM, *and* you're not checking bags, there is a separate connecting-flight transfer line that is quick.

SXM is a duty free port, so customs is rarely an issue (unlike AXA). I am sure they do random checks and if they have reason to suspect drugs or weapons, but they don't really care if you bring in a pair of NIkes for a friend on the island.
