Thanks, Mike. I got the furnace running consistently. Pretty sure it has to do with the intake/exhaust set-up on the outside of the house. There is a dual purpose cover designed to keep the intake separate from the exhaust, and the cover has pulled away from the house allowing the intake air to be contaminated with exhaust.
